Parolla is an ISO 27001 certified payroll software — the internationally recognised standard for information security management. For payroll, that matters more than almost anywhere else: you’re trusting us with salary data, PPS numbers, bank details and personal information for every employee you pay. ISO 27001 certified means that trust is backed by an independently audited, continuously maintained security management system, not just a policy document.
What is ISO 27001?
ISO/IEC 27001 is a globally recognised standard that sets out the requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). Certification means an accredited external auditor has independently verified that Parolla has the right processes, controls and governance in place to identify, manage and reduce information security risks — and that we’re required to maintain and improve them on an ongoing basis, not just at the point of certification.

What’s covered by our certification
Our certification covers the design, development, operation, support and protection of customer information as it is processed, stored and transmitted by Parolla’s cloud-based payroll platform, systems and supporting services — including our remote/home-working operations based in Tramore, Ireland.

Why independent certification matters
Our Information Security Management System has been independently audited by an accredited third party, Amtivo (Ireland) Limited — not self-assessed, and not inherited from a supplier.
That distinction matters. Many software providers describe themselves as “ISO 27001 aligned” or point to their data centre or hosting provider’s certification as evidence of security. Neither is the same thing as being certified yourself:
- “Aligned” isn’t certified. It means a company has looked at the standard and designed its own processes with it in mind — but no external auditor has verified that those processes actually work, or that they’re followed in practice. There’s no independent accountability behind the claim.
- Your host’s certification isn’t your certification. A data centre being ISO 27001 certified only covers the physical infrastructure it operates — the building, the servers, the network. It says nothing about how the software provider using that data centre actually develops, supports and handles your data day to day. That’s a completely separate scope.
Parolla’s certification covers our own organisation: how we design, develop, operate, support and protect customer information across our platform and our processes — assessed annually by an accredited external certifier, not just claimed by us.
